Day 24: “Moment That Shocked You The Most In Any Anime”

I might as well rename this to the every other day 30 day anime challenge.  I know it is a long title, but it accurately describes my lack of posts.  As long as you don’t look at the date of my posts, you will never know the difference.

Upon first reading this I instantly thought of Death Note‘s ending, where (spoiler alert) Light ends up dying.  I don’t know how I did not see that coming, but it was really shocking for me.  I guess I was expecting Light to live on, I am not sure.  Despite the disappointment I felt after Light died, I thoroughly enjoyed the ending.  I was not a huge fan of the show, I still am not, but that scene is the whole reason why I liked the anime.

I typically feel sick after watching animated shows for a while, especially if they are dull colored and pretty gory.  I am not someone who is opposed to watching actual gory films or shows, yet if it is animated it will instantly give me a headache.  For this reason, I did not like watching Attack on Titan or Death Note as much as I would have if there were real people playing the roles.  Despite my somewhat indifferent review of the show, I really did enjoy the ending.

Synopsis: A shinigami, as a god of death, can kill any person—provided they see their victim’s face and write their victim’s name in a notebook called a Death Note. One day, Ryuk, bored by the shinigami lifestyle and interested in seeing how a human would use a Death Note, drops one into the human realm. High school student and prodigy Light Yagami stumbles upon the Death Note and—since he deplores the state of the world—tests the deadly notebook by writing a criminal’s name in it. When the criminal dies immediately following his experiment with the Death Note, Light is greatly surprised and quickly recognizes how devastating the power that has fallen into his hands could be. With this divine capability, Light decides to extinguish all criminals in order to build a new world where crime does not exist and people worship him as a god. Police, however, quickly discover that a serial killer is targeting criminals and, consequently, try to apprehend the culprit. To do this, the Japanese investigators count on the assistance of the best detective in the world: a young and eccentric man known only by the name of L.
